REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) has been in force since 1 June 2007. It applies to nearly all chemical substances, from industrial raw materials to everyday consumer products such as cleaning agents, paints, and textiles. As a result, REACH affects most companies operating in the EU.
To comply with REACH, companies must identify and manage the risks of substances they manufacture or market in the EU. They must demonstrate safe use to ECHA and communicate risk management measures to users. Registration requires collaboration with other companies registering the same substance.
