Exposure & Risk Assessment
To ensure a safe use of hazardous substances throughout its entire lifecycle for both Man and the Environment, an Exposure Assessment with concluding Risk Characterisation needs to be conducted.
Depending on the outcome of the preceding Hazard Assessment, the Exposure Assessment may be conducted quantitatively (e.g. by use of tools/models or measuring data), semi-quantitatively (e.g. by use of measuring data or historical data) or qualitatively (e.g. by comparison with benchmarks) and reflects foreseeable conditions of use including risk management measures (if required), that lead to a safe use or at least to an acceptable risk.
